STADIUM REHEARSAL - PRO TIPS
Stadium Rehearsal - MONDAY, 8/26
#1: Plan to ARRIVE EARLY & STAY LATE
- 4:00 is travel/setup time
- 5:00 is downbeat as "Rehearsal Start"
- 8:00 is "Rehearsal End"
- 9:00 is latest after unloading at GHS (Sousas + Percussion + DM + Parent Volunteers)
- Carpool: Reach out to section leaders or other students/families (ahead of time) if you need a ride to or from rehearsal! (Hint: BandApp section chat)
- Trucks have to get loaded & unloaded and the stadium both set up and cleared. Many hands make light work! SIGN UP to help below!
#2: Fuel up! 🥪🥜🍌
- Drink lots of water (stay away from sugary drinks) Sunday through Monday to be properly hydrated as the turf on the field is a different kind of hot than the band pad! Also, plan for an "on-the-way-to-rehearsal" protein meal of some sort (Bananas, Granola, PB Sandwiches, Nuts, etc.).
#3: Plan for School Assignment Needs
- Long rehearsals are both physically and mentally taxing. Do what you can to stay AHEAD of the homework curve.
#4: Sunscreen & Sunglasses 😎
- Students will be facing the direction of the sun much of the time. Be prepared!
#5: Put your name on your things.
- Folders, music, water jugs, cases, bags, hats, etc... PLENTY of things can get left behind. Ensure that your name is on your things just in case!

DIRECTLY AFTER TUESDAY'S BAND REHEARSAL for BAND & FOOTBALL members!
STUDENTS: Be sure to get some ice cream and give some high fives after Tuesday's rehearsal!

💎THE JEWELRY BOX 💎
1. Hair & Make-Up: All hair and makeup supplies need to be purchased and received by Wednesday 8/28 (this coming Wednesday) so we can teach hair and makeup to the students. This list has been out for a few weeks now HERE.
- If you still haven't placed your orders, it's highly recommended that it is done Saturday and Sunday (ASAP) so it can arrive in time
2. Daily Packing List: Students should use THIS PACKING LIST each day to prepare for class/rehearsal. It is RECOMMENDED students pack each item in their bags each night and then set ALL their items BESIDE THE DOOR at home...that way they can grab it on the way out. Please DO NOT leave items (especially equipment) in someone's car overnight...you never know if that person will leave and then students will not have their equipment. They cannot rehearse/have class without their equipment. ALL ITEMS ARE REQUIRED EACH DAY...NON-NEGOTIABLE
3. GEMS Equipment Goes Home: ALL equipment for students goes home each night with the assumption that students have their equipment for practicing purposes. Each student SHOULD be making it a point to practice a minimum of approximately 15-30 minutes each day outside of the school/rehearsal time. This is for the students themselves to have time to fix and learn choreography better for the next rehearsal. The only way they will improve is if they spend time personally on it. This is expected just like any other class that assigns homework (think of it as the "homework" for GEMS class).
LAST CALL TO ORDER SHOW SHIRTS
2024 Marching Band Show Shirts ("City Cycle") will be ordered this week by the Boosters.
No orders will be accepted after Wednesday, 8/28.
NOTE:
Show Shirts are required for on-field volunteers (Pit Crew, Chaperones).
- GHS Band Students DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE these as they are provided.

GHS BAND BOOSTER MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

PLEASE DO NOT POST SHOW AUDIO OR VIDEO!
We love to see parents and friends at rehearsals and any time the band performs but please help us protect the integrity of the marching show by refraining from posting any audio or videos of the band on social media sites until we have the go-ahead from the directors to do so. Social media includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok and others.
Why? Because we want the show to be a surprise and "unveiled" at our first competition on September 28th at USBands Austin Regional 🏆. We also want to make sure the band is fairly judged based on their performance not a video a judge saw online.
In addition, the Grizzly Band pays fees for the rights to use the music and to the composers and arrangers who create the show. When you post, it's technically a violation and could make us liable for for financial penalties.
If you have already posted video or audio recordings, we kindly ask that you take them down.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
