• 5:15pm - Student Call Time, Silent Auction & Section Cake Contest Begins
• 5:20pm - Rehearsal on Stage/Band Hall
• 6:00pm - House opens for audience
• ~6:10pm - Concert Begins
• 30 mins after concert - Silent Auction & Section Cake Contest Ends

Silent Auction & Section Cake Contest Details

The December concert is a blast here at GHS. In addition to our concert, we will also have a silent auction and our annual "Section Cake Contest", where YOU get to help decide which section earns bragging rights for the year!

Section Cakes & Silent Auction

• Cakes may be dropped off in the Fine Arts workroom OR in Mr. Fig's office tomorrow before or after school if needed
• Cake and auction setup will take place in the Union from 4:30-5:30pm tomorrow

Please enjoy some time looking at the section cakes & silent auction items in the Union before the concert!

The Silent Auction & Cake Contest will end THIRTY MINUTES after the end of the concert!

Coming Up in the Spring

Spring Sectionals & Rehearsals

• Sectionals & After-School Rehearsals will begin in the second semester. There will be one sectional (either before or after school) and one after-school rehearsal each week.
• Attendance at these sectionals is required. These times will be critical for our success to learn our music together in smaller groups.

After-School Activities

• We're looking forward to the spring and offering our band students many diverse and fun opportunities. We hope that students will take advantage of some of these opportunities!
• Indoor Percussion, Flute Choir, Trombone Choir, Young Artist Contest (Solo Contest), Conducting workshops, and Leadership/Movement Camps will all be taking place in the spring. We hope your student(s) will take advantage of these experiences!

Student Spotlight: Juli Dohring (Gems) Makes State for TAFE!

Over the weekend the TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) Area 3 competition was held. Our very own Julianna Dohring advanced to the State Contest! She will be advancing to the State Competition in the categories of "Children’s Literature K-3", "Interactive Bulletin Board", and the ELF (Educational Leadership Fundamentals) Test. Way to go, Juli!
