Glenn Band News - Week of 4/22
Announcement for the week of 4/22 - 4/27
Hello, Glenn Band Fans!
Hello, Glenn Band Families!
We just got back from our first-ever Beach Trip, and wow, what a fantastic trip! We had great weather, relaxed and soaked up some sun, and created some wonderful memories. Thank you to all of the students who were awesome the entire trip, and to every parent who helped by donating. The beach and pool were great, and the bonfire that we had was really special thanks to the parent donations that we had. Thank you!
This week we look to a few important events - first, our 2024 Marching Band Meeting & Show Reveal, which is tomorrow (Monday) at 7:15 PM in the Union. Reminder: students and one parent per student are required to attend this meeting.
Second, we host our Young Artist Contest Prelims this Thursday beginning at 5:00 PM at GHS. For this event, students only need to be present for their solo performance. They may go home right after they perform. Ms. Muckleroy will be sending out the final schedule and details for this event.
As we look towards May, please look at the Band Calendar for the end of our year - we have concerts and events all the way until the last day of school, so please look ahead. More event information for the end of the year will be shared in the near future, so please keep your eyes out for any band emails!
Musically Yours,
The Glenn Band Staff

"GPRs" (Glenn Personal Records)
GPRs are a way to track of progress that the Grizzly Band is making every week. We don't get a chance to tell you about the little "PRs" that are being set all the time in our band program, and these little details go a long way. After all, "excellence is in the details"!
GPRs this week:
GRIZZLIES ON THE BEACH!
The "beach trip" is an old and uniquely "Texas Band" tradition. This is all about leaving our instruments behind for a few days so we can relax and enjoy some time together as a band family. I'm so glad that the Grizzly Band has been able to finally experience a beach trip, and hope that this tradition will continue in the future. We enjoyed some late wake-up calls, a care-free schedule, plenty of time in the water, and a great bonfire on the beach. Here are a few photos from our weekend!

GEMS NEWS
Coach's Corner
Hello Glenn Gems Community!
Please check your emails for correspondence from Coach later this week with any Gems upcoming news & events.
The band directors are seeking a few Gems to help us at our first-ever Young Artists Contest Finals on MAY 2nd (not April, that was a typo)! We would love for our Gems to join us at this event, where our best band soloists will be performing at the Don Tew PAC at LHS for the rest of the band students. We are specifically hoping that some Gems would be able to help us to pass out programs to our family members for this concert! Please let Mr. Fig or Ms. Muckleroy know if you would be interested in helping, we would love to see our Gems join us for this first-ever event!ent!
